Removal of a 20m fixed ladder

Details: 

Unsafe, old, fixed ladder – structurally damaged and not compliant with AS/NZS standards.

Project Challenges: 

• Fixed to large building on a busy 24/7 industrial site
• Potential business disruption
• Cost of crane hire to complete the job

Outcome:  

Our APS abseiling team erected counterweight needle structures on the roof, then cut away sections of the ladder within weight limits of the counterweight system.  Sections of the old ladder were lowered safety by pre-rigged pulleys.

The project was completed without H&S incident, or disruption to the business operations.  The cost to the client was less than half the cost of crane hire.
